GRUPO DE ARTES NATIVAS ANITA GARIBALDI
The “Anita Garibaldi” Native Arts Group was founded on February 14, 1994, in Encantado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, with the purpose of becoming an entity dedicated to the cult of gaucho traditions.
The name “Anita Garibaldi” was chosen to honor the women who idealized the group and especially the warrior Ana Maria de Jesus Ribeiro, better known as Anita Garibaldi, the “heroine of two worlds”.
Since its foundation, “Anita” has always shown its talent, having won numerous awards in artistic contests. Among the outstanding participations of the group, we can mention the final phase of ENART (Gaucho Art and Tradition Meeting), in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
In addition, the entity participated in circuits of folk festivals in Germany (10th Internationalen Begegnungswoche in Laggenbeck, with performances in Grimma, Mühlhausen, Morbach, Idar-Oberstein, among other cities) in 2007, and in Italy (Circuiti Festival de la “Unione Folclorica Italiana”, with performances in Cupramontana, Russi, Aviano, Treviso, among other cities), in 2009, representing Brazil and the culture of the gaucho people.
In 2013 through FEBRARP the group toured Poland where they participated in the 50th Beskidy Highlanders Week Of Culturee 24th International Folk Meetings in the city of Wisla, the XXII MIEDZYNARODOWY FESTIVAL FOLKLORU in the city of Strzegom and also the XXII International Folklore Festival Interfolk in Kolobzeg city.
In 2015, the Group traveled to Belgium, where it participated in the Wereld Folklore Festival “Hello Schoten” Festival in the city of Schoten, and in the city of Veurne, participated in The International Folklore Festival “Dans In De Stad”.
In 2018, the Group traveled to Northern Cyprus where it participated in the 23rd International Iskele Municipality Folk Dance Festival of Iskele City, where it was crowned Champion of the Festival, in addition to the prize for Best Choreography and Best Dancer. He also participated in the city of Bursa, Turkey, in the 32nd International Golden Karagöz Folk Dance Competition.
The group presents traditional gaucho dances, choreography of folk projection and biriva dances (gaucho folklore), accompanied by singing and typical musical instruments such as guitar, harmonica and percussion instruments. The dancers perform wearing the typical costume of the time of origin of the dances, according to historical research.
