"Utkarsh Dance Academy LLP" is running since 28 years (i.e. since 1994) in the famous city, Surat located in Gujarat, India. It is an “ISO 9001:2015” certified Indian Government registered institute that specializes in the Indian classical dance form "Bharatnatyam" and Indian Folk Dances. 

The academy is also an active member of “C.I.O.F.F.  (International Council of Organizations of Folklore  Festivals)  India  Section  –  an  official  partner  of  UNESCO”  and  FIDAF  (Federation  of International Dance Festivals) – an official partner of UNESCO”.

The Director and Founder of Utkarsh Dance Academy is Mrs. Behnaz S Todiwala. She has taken her Bharatnatyam training from the age of 4 from Gurus Smt. Neelaben and Reenaben Raval of “Felicity Art” (Surat) and Guru SIVARAMAKRISHNAN  popularly known as Prof. K. A. Ganesh Iyer (Mumbai).

• 2019 - “FTV – Heart & Soul” (Women with Spirit Award).
• 2019 &  2016  -  Felicitated  by  the  prestigious  “Natyanjali  Dance  Festival”  held  in Chidambaram, Kumbakonam and Brihadeshwar, Chennai 
• 2016 - “Gajera Trust Award” of Surat
• 2015 - Felicitated by “Kerala Kalamandalam – Deemed to be University” of Kerala

Since last 28 years, under the professional guidance of Mrs. Behnaz S. Todiwala and her professional team of teachers, Utkarsh has trained more than 5500 students in the spiritual Classical Dance Form

- Bharatnatyam and various Indian Folk Dances according to Indian Govt. Certified Course and every year approx. 300 students takes training in the 2 Branches of Utkarsh. 

• 700 students have completed their B.A (Visharad)
• 300 students have completed their M.A (Alankar)
• 300 students have completed their Arangetram National and International Achievements:

From 1998, more than 1000 students of Utkarsh Dance Academy have represented India at many prestigious  International  Children  and  Youth  Folklore  festivals  to  showcase  our  Indian  traditions through Indian Classical Dance and Indian Folk Dances organised by CIOFF and FIDAF and supported by UNESCO in countries like China, USA, Greece, Italy, Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Korea, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Taiwan, Hungary, etc. 

 

International Proud Moments:

❖  July 2022 – Represented India in the 48th Gannat Festival “Les Cultures Du Monde” held in Gannat, France.

❖  June 2022 - Represented India in the “27th Danube Carnival International Cultural Festival” and WON the “Best Group” trophy through PUBLIC VOTING in the 11 th  Chain Bridge Folk Dance Competition held in Budapest, Hungary.

❖  2021 - Online Edition of 3 o  Festival Nacional Internacional “America Without Borders”, Chile 

❖  2020 - Online Edition of the International Folklore Festival "Świat pod Kyczera", Poland.

❖  July 2019 - Represented India in the “Yilan International Folklore and Folkgame Festival” held in Taiwan organized by C.I.O.F.F.

❖  July  2018  &  2015  -  Represented  India  in  “WORLD  DANCES  –  40th  International  Folklore festival in Terras De Feira (Casa Da Gaia Danças do Mundo)” in Portugal organized by C.I.O.F.F. and won many awards also.

❖  August 2017 - Represented India  in the “43rd Folklore Festival of Fribourg” held Fribourg, Switzerland.

❖  July  2017  -  Represented  India  in  the  “34th  Folkmoot  Folklore  Dance  Festival”  held  in Waynesville, North Carolina, USA.

❖  2013 – Represented India in one of the most prestigious festival of the world Mondial Des Culture held in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada and have won the “Best Group” trophy by public online voting in 2013.

❖  2008 – Represented India at the International Dance Festival in Changshu, China organised by C.I.O.F.F. to promote the Olympics.

 

Some national proud moments: 

❖  March 2019 & 2016 – UTKARSH became the 1 st  Group from Gujarat to perform at India’s most prestigious  Natyanjali  Classical  dance  festivals  held  near  Chennai  in  Chidambaram, Kumbakonam and Brihadeshwar to celebrate the Famous Indian festival of Maha Shivratri.

❖  December 2015 - Performers of Utkarsh performed at the Inaugural ceremony of Asia’s longest beach  festival  “Festa  De  Diu”  in  the  presence  of  the  Honourable  President  of  India,  Shri. Pranab Mukherji.

❖  2020, 2017 & 2016 - performed at the prestigious Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, India. ❖  March  2019  &  2017  -  Performed  at  the  inaugural  ceremony  of  “ICCON  –  International Conference for Complications in Neurosurgery” which was inaugurated by Legendary Guru “Sri Sri Ravishankarji Maharaj” of Art of Living.
